Many programs and scripts have claimed that they are able to hide or cloak your tracks, with the intention of allowing you to be able to use any marketing tactic that you wish.
Honestly, this is kind of amusing when I hear these “sales pitches”.
Why?
Because it’s impossible. It’s technologically and physically impossible to completely hide your tracks and STILL look like a REAL user. Now, you can hide your tracks by cloaking and blanking all referrers and cookies…but who does that? The quick answer is no one, except those that want to hide their tracks and/or are fake.
As I had stated in the previous podcast, in any affiliate marketing plan – you need to have at least 50% of it be legit in some way or another.
To give you an example…
If recently received an e-mail from CJ (Commission Junction) requesting information about how I generate traffic/marketing using their ads considering that I had received over 50,000+ hits in just 4 days.
I could have just shrugged it off and moved on…but why? They have my cash! And I want it!
These e-mails and phone calls are quite normal. Any time their is a some-what large amount of money involved, your affiliate manager will be in contact with you – so be prepared!
That’s why you need at least 50% of your campaign to be legit.
So how did I get past the guard at the gate? Simple!
Lately, I have been using a website called CPAHits.com for all of my affiliate marketing. It simply geo-redirects users based upon their geo-location. While it is a nice tool for geo-redirection, I purely use it as a “Front” to be able to use any marketing tactic that I please.
Why is it a front? Well, when I recieved that e-mail from CJ, I just e-mailed them back and stated that “My hits come from both my homepage and from short redirect holds. The redirect holds work very much like Adf.ly and show the ad for a brief amount of time every so many randomized redirects, and then finally redirects the user to their destination. This method is both a common marketing technique and falls within your Terms & Conditions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.”
That’s it! There is absolutely nothing that they can argue. The site is legit, the redirects are legit, and although the site doesn’t work like Adf.ly, they can’t prove that it doesn’t. The best part is, regardless of where your traffic comes from, there is no hiding cookies, faking the referrer, or anything else that may get you in trouble with your affiliate. This is because regardless of the referrer, they can’t get mad at you for getting traffic to YOUR site – at the end of the day, the real referrer is always going to be your site.
I have included a copy/clone of CPAhits for you guys to use.
